The Power of Imaging

Take for example the creative power of motion pictures.
I just went to "Angels & Demons", put aside that I am a Dan Brown follower, but from the aspect that I appreciate visual art. When I come out of a good movie.....I come out inspired.
Boy howdy am I inspired today. :)
I love art. I love things that have meaning, concept, symbology.
Art has levels of understanding. The more you understand, the more you like the art.
It is a knowledge is the key to understanding sort of thing. I find the more I study and try to understand the aspects of art....the more drawn I am to the artists of the renaissance and early painters. When you realize the things they had to deal with just to do what they did.
Artists today..have an unfair advantage in ways. Computers and digital technology. Today...you have to know technology.....not art. Technology has made some mediocre talent genius. It is real genius?
Leonardo was genius.
We are almost hindered today...by technology doing alot of our work for us. Program mode. Automatic. Auto focus. Levels adjustment. We no longer have to be perfect up front. We create it by fixing what is wrong and what is distracting...which can in itself be talent...but is that art?
Gone is the day of pure talent. It is becoming extinct. The day of creating from visions in our minds eye is by pure accident, not intended and created by design.
I feel when I most enjoy my work...is when I have an idea and I execute it. Perceived in my mind, and then created. Sure, I can adlib and do things and create on the fly.....but I love creating something from my brain. What I haven't done so well....is learn proceedure and planning for a better execution. I think if I paid more attention to the details up front, I could spend more time in the digital darkroom enhancing the visual intent.
Some don't realize the power of what imaging can do.
No matter what kind of visual artist you are or type of photographer you are. The images are the story. There are many ways to come to the end result.
I find my self wanting to embark on a journey of documenting the process. Journaling, note taking and maybe daily blogging through an image creation. ONE storytelling image. ONE powerful image. The pitfalls and successes. Help myself create a "creation process".
I doubt this is something I can do alone. I have no idea how long it could take. But I want to approach my photography and imaging differerntly even if it is just for myself and my journey.

I have several images in my mind...that I feel are powerful and something I want to create.
I am going to try this out and see what happens.
