In the Beginning 2011

Everyone feels refreshed and wanting to start anew at the beginning of a new year. It is a time to feel "cleansed".
Maybe it is because the general chaos of the holiday season is over.
I wish to take a journey this year....studying and learning more about ancient symbolism and the mysteries of religious and divine thought pre-bible, and how everything to this day, still follows the same patterns, beliefs and stories.
It began one day. It is a process. It continues. No matter how you believe, it is hard to deny we are continuing on a path that unbeknownst to us, has a set fate.
Where are we in the process? Hard to say. Some say with December 21, 2012 looming in the horizon, we are at the end. But since this post is about "beginnings", I will have to leave that for later.
You can look at it as a humanity process, alpha to omega, "I am the beginning and the end", over the scale of human existance and how we have emerged from the preverbial "garden of eden" to the forcast of "armeggeddon"? Or you can look at it from your personal journey from birth to death and your journey through your known consciousness. Either way, I believe both are parallel.
My first "thoughts" are with the prior, and the Garden of Eden and the first fall of humanity and test of will power.
The Tree:
It is said the knowledge contained therein, was good and evil and we ought not eat from it. Man is hungry from knowledge. With certain consumption of knowledge....we learn things maybe that are regretable. Does that mean we shouldn't hunt and thirst for knowledge? Truth? Not at all. You just become more "knowing", "enlightened". We learn things are not as they seem or were thought to be. Remember the "Earth is Flat" saga? The knowledge that suddenly the earth was round, proved devistating for some, yet highly exciting for others at the new found idea. A belief was shattered.
When you believe something so wholeheartedly and find out that you were wrong, there is a sudden awareness that makes you feel ashamed for being duped.
But is all in how you wish to look at knowledge? A stepping stone forward. Don't take things so seriously now, lighthearted attitude is something we all could use more of. It boils down to a simplicity we should enjoy. Complexity is always foiled.
There is something to be said about keeping things simple.
You must be able to laugh at what you know, and also know that at any moment an Einstien somewhere could discover something that could change your whole belief system.
Everyone has a tree, rooted in their faith and beliefs. It is the mother to all they stand for. What it produces is, the fruit of our existance that pollenates and seeds the ground for upcoming generations. Your tree, came from a tree. (why do they use a tree for genealogy?) Branches and Branches breaking off. Some are small...some are quite fruitful.
You must work on all branches in your tree.
Feed your roots. Make them healthy. Instill beliefs, traditions and good moral character in your children.
Have a wide base. Be strong. A narrow base (limit in thought, expansion and narrow mindedness) will not be able to hold the tree, it will fall over.
Bear fruit, be pleniful and multiply. Not just for your family or branches but for others. Being greedy and not sharing is not what a tree is for. It is for all and must be allowed to be given freely. Give to others less fortunate willingly.
Understand there are seasons. Seasons of fruitful bounty, and seasons of hibernation and thought and reflection. Not all things last. Another season will come soon. Just wait for it.
Not all trees are the same. Just because your tree, doesn't look like mine...does not mean it isn't a tree for someone.
Knowledge...is in every fiber of your tree. This is what you feed it. If you don't feed it, it won't grow. So learn something new all the time and this is genetically instilled in your fruit and passed on. It can't live on water alone. There must be nutrients.
Study all things. Why flowers are beautiful. Why the clouds are so cool in the summer. What the Bible and teachings, artists of the Renaissance and scholars and philosophers speak of. It is there to feed your tree.
So this of knowledge and my tree for my first post of 2011.
Go forth and feed your tree!
